The history of El Cairo is deeply rooted in family, passion for horses, and the desire to create a unique celebration space. The original El Cairo in Colombia, our Grandpa's cattle and horse ranch, played a pivotal role in igniting our love for horses and ultimately leading us to the world of polo. El Cairo Polo Ranch is not just a venue; it's a heartfelt tribute to our Grandpa and the entire family who shares a profound passion for the great outdoors.
When it came time to establish El Cairo Polo Ranch, Laurel Hill, Florida, was a natural choice. The breathtaking countryside combined with its proximity to the beach—a mere hour's drive—offered the perfect blend of beauty. This setting allowed us to offer our guests the best of both worlds, where they could enjoy the beach and countryside in a single day, creating memories with family and friends.
In 2022, as we explored wedding venues in Santa Rosa Beach, the realization struck. The prices for beach weddings were staggering, and we didn't feel the value matched the cost. A light bulb moment led us to consider our own farm, El Cairo, as the ideal wedding venue. The convenience for out-of-town guests and the allure of a unique experience made it the perfect choice. The simplicity of planning a wedding in one location, with the charming backdrop of Laurel Hill, made our wedding day magical.
El Cairo became a "Beach & Country" wedding destination, with several other similar venues in the vicinity, creating a community of reliable vendors. Our own wedding was a testament to the charm and versatility of the barn layout, providing an unforgettable experience for up-to 200 guests.
Following the celebration, some of our family stayed in nearby accommodations like the historic hotel in Defuniak Springs, while others explored the vibrant 30A area. The next day, we continued the festivities at Grayton Beach, and the joy continued as guests enjoyed their mini-vacations biking from Seaside to Rosemary Beach.
The positive response from our own wedding prompted inquiries from others eager to know the name of our venue. After careful consideration, we decided to open El Cairo Polo Ranch to a select number of brides and grooms each year who want to share the same special experience with their loved ones. We're excited to host these special weddings while still cherishing the beauty and essence of El Cairo ourselves.
